There was a record broken at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo over the weekend. A steer sold for a whopping $300,000.

The 1-year-old steer named Cupid Shuffle sold for the record-breaking amount on Saturday morning. It's the first Hereford champion at the show and sale since 1982.

The steer was sold to GKB Cattle in the Junior Steer Competition.

Of course, here in Acadiana we know all about the "Cupid Shuffle," the 2007 line dance hit recorded by Lafayette native Cupid.

12-year-old Ryder Day is from Meadow FFA and raised Cupid Shuffle.

He became emotional after judges named his steer the winner at the show and sale. Day said the money will pay for college for him and his brother.

"It's too much to think about," Day said. "After we pay for college, me and my brother, we'll help build our ranch up. Just like my parents and my grandparents and their parents before them."
