Officials with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office have told our news partners at KATC that a Melville woman was arrested for allegedly being the person that is responsible for a fire at her grandparent's home.

The fire started in a bedroom, and now 29-year-old Kari Ganson was booked on one count of Simple Arson.

Investigators say based on some circumstances along with gathering evidence, they developed Ganson as a suspect in connection with this case. The fire, they contend, was set on purpose.

Her grandparents live in the 200 block of Oak Street in Melville, and this fire happened on Sunday, November 8.
