State Police and multiple local and parish police agencies are still putting together the scenario of what happened across the southwestern part of the state last night. Specifically what happened in the eastbound lanes of I-10 from the city of Sulphur in Calcasieu Parish through Jeff Davis and Acadia parishes and finally ending with an arrest in Lafayette Parish.

The video below was supplied to KATC Television by Sandy and Dylan Vidrine.

Police in Sulphur engaged a suspect last night around 6 pm. Exactly what the suspect vehicle was going to be detained for is unclear at this time because the driver of that vehicle fled the scene. We can only speculate that the suspect had more to hide than just a routine traffic violation. Because the ensuing pursuit moved from Calcasieu Parish through Jeff Davis Parish and across Acadia Parish.

Law enforcement operatives in Lafayette Parish were able to bring the suspect vehicle to a stop near Exit 103, that's the University Exit off of I-10. At that time the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. However, he was captured a short time later.

Details are not clear at this juncture exactly who the suspect is or why the suspect was running from police. We do know there is a suspect in custody in Lafayette and details are expected to be released later today.
