Historic Hubig’s Pies Burns To The Ground
Louisiana is a little less sweet today with the burning of the historic Hubig's Pies in New Orleans. New Orleans Fire Department spokesman Capt. Edwin Holmes says the Simon Hubig Pie Co. in the Marigny neighborhood was a total loss Friday morning. The delcious fried pies, sold all over Louisiana, have been made in the Dauphine St location since 1922.
Everyone around our office is talking about Hubig's today, and we are hearing reports that the fried pies are selling out all around Acadiana. We are so sad about this, and hope that Hubig's will be up and running soon. They are a true Louisiana treasure that has fed generations of us here in the Bayou State. We're keeping a good thought!
UPDATE: The family has issued a statement:
"On behalf of the Hubig's Pies family we would like to thank everyone for all of the love and support we have received through out the years and during this difficult time. The abundant amount of thoughts, prayers, and strength that is being sent our way during this time is much appreciated. We are blessed to be part of such a resilient community and we send our immense gratitude to all of the first responders who "put this out with their tears." We will continue to update you on our progress. "REBUILD RESTORE REHUBIG'S, WE WILL NOT LOSE OUR FLAVOR!" With Love, The Bowman and Ramsey Families."
