Holiday Hiring in Louisiana – Company Looks to Add 13,000 Workers
Life in Louisiana is an enigma wrapped in mystery. That's a fancy way to say that folks who make their homes in places like Kaplan, Sorrento, Vidalia, and Pineville live a life that some "who ain't from around here" might find to be a bit confusing. For example, we are waking up this morning with a hurricane spinning just a few hundred miles off of our coastline and we are about to discuss an opportunity that's available for the holidays.
And while it might seem strange to entertain thoughts of Thanksgiving and Christmas while tropical weather is making headlines, it's just part of life here in the Gulf South. Another part of life in the Gulf South is finding employment that can offer a living wage for an individual or a family.
For a lot of Louisiana workers, one job just isn't enough to pay the bills we have to pay and afford the lifestyle we choose to lead. We have good news if you find yourself in that camp and might be looking for seasonal employment. A major company that has just expanded into Louisiana in recent years is hiring for the holidays.
Not only are they hiring for the holidays, they are hiring a lot for the holidays. The company is the discount grocery store chain Aldi. Aldi is a newcomer to Louisiana's lucrative grocery game. They have 15 locations scattered across Louisiana and those locations will be looking to hire seasonal help.
An Aldi spokesperson suggested that companywide Aldi would be adding some 13,000 workers to their payroll before the end of the year. The average hourly wage for these positions was said to be $23 per hour. Those with little or no experience might earn $18 an hour with an opportunity for more based on growth and experience.
There are part-time positions that are being filled and positions that offer an employee more than 30 hours per week with benefits. Aldi is also touting the fact that the company promotes from within with 70% of assistant managers and 43% of managers starting in the associate position before advancing.
Job opportunities range from customer service to shelf stocker and warehouse employee. You can find out more about specific opportunities by visiting this link.
