It's that time of year Acadiana -- time to clean out your freezer for a great cause. It's the annual Hunters for the Hungry food drive to benefit local shelters throughout Acadiana.

Hunting season is here and you probably have a good bit of meat left in the freezer from last year's season. So, it's time for you to clean out your freezer and donate your frozen processed fish or game.

This year’s Hunters for the Hungry Chairman Bob Giles said, “This is such a worthy cause, meat is the most difficult food item to provide to the needy as it is expensive and hard to preserve.” You don’t have to be a hunter to donate food for this drive and to help this worthy cause.

The food drive is set for this Sunday, September 29th from 10am-3pm. You can drop off at the following locations:

Lafayette - Cajun Field
Carencro - Carencro Fire Station
Broussard - Chops Specialty Meats
Eunice - Sirius Technologies/Sirius Computer Services
Youngsville - First Assembly of God on Verot School Rd
Opelousas - Nissan of Opelousas
