(KMDL-FM) - In-N-Out Burger has been a staple in California for nearly 80 years. In the last few years, the fast food chain has expanded its footprint across other states, and folks in Louisiana are ready to find out if the Bayou State is next.

We'll get to that potential answer in a bit.

First, it's important to know that In-N-Out currently has more than 280 restaurants in eight states: California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oregon, and Idaho.

CEO Sheds Light on Expansion Strategy

CEO Lynsi Snyder made some comments during a recent interview regarding the company's latest round of expansion and more details regarding a new regional headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee (just south of Nashville).

Tennessee to See Major Growth First

Back in 2023, actually, the company announced the privately owned chain would be expanding into Tennessee. They're reportedly planning 35 locations in Tennessee that will begin opening next year.

Snyder also revealed that further expansion in the southern U.S. is likely. However, she didn't go into a lot of specifics.

“We’re able to reach Tennessee from our Texas warehouse,” Snyder said. “Texas can reach some other states, you know?”

Fresh Ingredients Limit Where In-N-Out Can Expand

The warehouse location is key in discussions about further expansion. The burger chain is known for its fresh ingredients, including never-frozen ground beef.

According to Snyder, the Tennessee locations are possible because the company's meat processing facility is located in Lancaster, Texas (just south of Dallas).

It's been reported that In-N-Out locations need to be within 500 miles of one of its distribution centers in order to get the fresh ground beef.

Louisiana Falls Within the 500-Mile Fresh Zone

And that's where the possibility of one of these days getting In-N-Out Burgers in Louisiana comes into the equation. Basically, all of our state is within that 500-mile radius of the Texas facility, giving us at least a logistical shot at getting those tasty burgers here.
