A controversial study has come out this week from the World Health Organization, that says eating processed meat, like bacon, sausage, and ham, is just as bad as smoking for your health. Nooooooooo - say it ain't so! Not only 'just as bad', but ranks them right up there with cigarettes, alcohol and asbestos as top carcinogens.

Not everyone is convinced, however, but some of the statistics are pretty disturbing:

In this new study, processed meat has been linked to bowel cancer, pancreatic and prostrate cancer,  and colorectal cancer. I'm not a doctor by any means, but I don't think having a bacon cheeseburger every once in awhile is going to kill anyone.

Check out the other findings, and make a decision for yourself on what is best for your family. Are you going to stop eating bacon or sausage? Let us know how studies like this affects your thoughts on red meat. I'm afraid to even think about what I would do with out my boudin and cracklin, ya'll! And I for one am not going to stop using sausage in my gumbo, but if I absolutely HAVE to cut down on these things, I will.
