A little boy from Evangeline Parish is being hailed as a hero after he came to the rescue of his MawMaw.

Imagine that you are 9 years old, and you are just doing what you do most days, and that's getting ready for school. This day though is not going to be like the other days.

A fifth-grader named Jermarian Arvie was going through his usual morning routine on Friday when he went to check on his MawMaw.

He told KATC TV-3,

I wanted to check on Mawmaw before I left and then she was on the phone with Nanny because she always calls Nanny, and she said she can't breathe. She said, 'Help!' And then, Nanny told me to call 9-1-1 and I did and I said the address and stuff.

Jemarian's Mawmaw is Sandra Arvie, and as she was on the phone with her sister, Mary Doucet, she told them both she needed help because she could not breathe.

Doucet told Jemarian to call 911, and the fifth grader did, making sure his grandmother had everything she needed.

Doucet calls Jemarian Sandra's guardian angel. Jemarian has always lived with Sandra, and they take care of each other. She adds that if it wasn't for Jemarian she doesn't know if her sister would have made it to her birthday this Wednesday, August 23. She will be 64 years old.
