A historic landmark in Eunice, Louisiana went up in flames Saturday afternoon.

Nick's on 2nd Street in downtown Eunice was engulfed in flames as bystanders looked on. Multiple fire departments from the area responded to the call, and as you'll see in the photo below, a small aircraft was even called in to assist in extinguishing the fire.

For those unfamiliar with Nick's in Eunice it was a restaurant and venue in the downtown district and was often used for many functions and wedding receptions.

As crews continue to battle the blaze it is unknown at this time what may have caused the inferno in Eunice.

Sources in Eunice tell me that nearby buildings are in danger of catching fire as this difficult blase to fight begins to spread.

We will continue to follow this developing story out of St. Landry Parish.

UPDATE: Some surrounding buildings suffered smoke damage, but no structure other than Nick's was damaged by fire. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office was on the scene to begin their investigation.
