Nick Saban Says His Wife Once Sprinkled Holy Water on Sideline at LSU
(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - At the SEC Media Day in Tampa, Florida, Nick Saban and LSU Football Coach Lane Kiffin discussed the time Saban returned to Tiger Stadium for the first time as the coach for Alabama, and Saban admitted that his wife sprinkled holy water on the field.
The discussion started on the set at the panel, where they were talking about Lane Kiffin returning to Ole Miss this football season for the first time since taking the LSU job, and Saban told his friend he had some advice for him.
From that discussion, Kiffin then hit the rewind button to when Nick Saban returned to LSU Tiger Stadium for the first time after accepting the head coach position at Alabama.
The new LSU coach, who was on Saban's staff at the time, told the story of Nick Saban's wife, Mrs. Terry, walking along the sideline during pre-game warmups and sprinkling holy water on the sideline. According to Coach Kiffin, Mrs Terry was blessing the sideline in "Death Valley" because she was convinced that there is real VooDoo in the stadium.

Apparently, the Holy water worked in 2008 because Nick Saban's Crimson Tide, who was ranked number one in the country at the time, defeated LSU in overtime 27-21. And yes, Nick Saban heard it all night from the LSU faithful, who were not happy that he returned as Alabama's coach.
LSU-Ole Miss 2026 Game
As for Kiffin's return to Ole Miss, well, the LSU Tigers do travel to Oxford, MS on Saturday night, October 16th in what should be a very hostile atmosphere. Remember, Kiffin left Ole Miss as they were preparing to contend for a National Championship in 2025.
Do you think Kiffin or anyone in his family will sprinkle Holy Water on the field of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium? We shall see.
