Town of Mamou Completely Without Water, No Timeframe For Return of Service

UPDATE: City officials say that water should soon be restored shortly after town employees were able to make repairs on the damaged lines.

The entire Town of Mamou, Louisiana is without water.

According to officials in Mamou, main water lines were damaged by crews installing fiber cables throughout the city.

There is currently no time frame as to when the water service will be restored, therefore fire officials in Mamou have already alerted surrounding communities of the issue.

I am told in the event of a fire in Mamou, surrounding fire departments are ready to respond with mutual aid.

Residents there say that this is not the first time a major water line has been damaged by those installing fiber lines in the Town of Mamou or Evangeline Parish.
