Why You Shouldn’t Park Your Lincoln MKCs in the Carport

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is announcing that the Ford Motor Company is recalling some 142,734 models of its luxury brand Lincoln MKCs.

According to officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there is a risk that one of the sensors in the vehicles can overheat and the car could catch fire.

The recall impact Lincoln MKCs that were built between 2015 and 2019. It's a battery sensor that has issues, so the company is saying that you should not park the vehicle close to anything flammable. Without a doubt, you should not be parking your vehicle in your carport or garage.

How Do You Know If Your Particle Car Is Being Recalled?

The easiest way to find out if your particular car falls under the recall for Lincoln MKCs is to visit this website, NHTSA.gov/recalls, and enter your car's VIN. If you prefer, you can also call their number at 888-327-4236.

According to the NHTSA, this month the car maker will be sending out notifications to all vehicle owners impacted, and explaining to them what will be changed in their vehicles,

Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Lincoln dealer to have an in-line fuse added to the battery monitor sensor power circuit.

The best practice right now is to park your vehicle on the street away from anything flammable until you've had a chance to have the vehicle fixed. The notifications about the vehicle will start being sent out the week of June 26, 2023.
