A crash involving two commercial vehicles Tuesday night (Mar. 12) led to the closure of both westbound lanes of Interstate 10.

UPDATE:

Following Tuesday night's incident that led to the closure of both westbound lanes of I-10 in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana State Police have now confirmed that all lanes are reopened. The Scott Police Department, which has been closely investigating the crash involving two commercial vehicles, one of which was hauling hazardous material, has announced the scene is safe for travel as of Wednesday morning (Mar. 13).

Officials have confirmed that there was no leakage from the container carrying hazardous material, and there is no threat to public safety.

During the closure, Lafayette Police had redirected westbound traffic onto Ambassador Caffery Parkway (Exit 100) and later at I-49. Motorists who had been advised to avoid the area and anticipate delays can now resume their usual routes on I-10 westbound.

Travelers are still encouraged to check 511la.org for real-time updates on road conditions and any further advisories.
