As a bitter cold snap swept across Louisiana, bringing the coldest temperatures the region had seen in over a year, a viral TikTok video showcasing a simple winter stunt has captured thousands of people's attention online.

In Louisiana, we are well-versed in making the most out of any situation. It never fails, after every major hurricane people are out in the ditches doing similar stunts to pass the time.

The video, posted by a user known as 'Big Cal' on TikTok, features a daring maneuver that had viewers both amazed and concerned about safety, and this time instead of murky hurricane water its snow.

In the midst of frigid temperatures and icy conditions, the video shows a vehicle pulling an individual behind it, resembling a traditional sleigh ride. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that they are not on a traditional sleigh but rather riding atop a tire. The video was captioned with a simple, "only in Shreveport."

The clip, which has gained significant attention on the social media platform, captures the scene in front of a gas station at an intersection, with other vehicles passing by. While the stunt appears exhilarating, questions about safety naturally arise given the hazardous weather conditions.

As reported by local news outlet KATC, the Acadiana region experienced extreme weather conditions with wind chill values dipping into the single digits and temperatures hovering in the low to mid 30s, with some areas in North Acadiana staying below freezing throughout the day. Freezing rain had left a layer of ice on various surfaces, including cars and signs.

Bridges and overpasses in the area were closed due to the rapid freezing, a common precautionary measure as these structures tend to freeze first. It's important to note that ice on roadways might not always be visible, making driving conditions hazardous.

While the viral TikTok video captured a thrilling moment in the midst of this deep freeze, safety concerns have been raised. Engaging in such activities can pose serious risks to individuals' safety, especially in icy and freezing conditions. With that being said we don't recommend you try this at home, instead, you can watch a video of someone else doing it from the comfort of your warm bed.

Local authorities and law enforcement agencies urge residents to exercise caution during extreme weather events and refrain from participating in potentially dangerous activities that could lead to accidents or injuries. Safety should always be the top priority, even when trying to make the most of unusual weather conditions.
