A dramatic cell phone video recorded in a Youngsville neighborhood is drawing widespread attention after capturing the arrest of a local man now facing multiple felony charges involving children.

The video, shared by a nearby resident, shows heavily equipped Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office deputies escorting 47-year-old Chad Boudreaux from a home in handcuffs as neighbors watched from outside.

According to the Youngsville Police Department, Boudreaux was arrested on multiple felony charges following an investigation that remains active.

Youngsville Police Announce Serious Felony Charges

In a statement released after the arrest, Youngsville Police said Boudreaux has been charged with:

  • Two counts of First-Degree Rape (Felony)
  • Two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile (Felony)

Authorities say Boudreaux was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

The department also thanked the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office for assisting with the arrest.

"This case remains active and under investigation," Youngsville Police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact Youngsville Police at 337-856-5931.

As with all criminal cases, Boudreaux is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Neighbor Says The Suspect Lived Next Door

The video quickly spread across social media after Youngsville resident Emily Ramirez posted it online.

Her reaction echoed what many people felt after learning who deputies were arresting.

"Literally my next door neighbor."

The footage, which contains explicit music, shows deputies wearing tactical gear as they remove Boudreaux from the residence before placing him into a law enforcement vehicle.

The video has since generated thousands of views and prompted an outpouring of comments from residents expressing shock that someone accused of such serious crimes allegedly lived in their neighborhood.

Why Cases Like This May Feel More Common

Following the arrest, many people asked whether Youngsville and Acadiana are seeing an increase in people accused of sex crimes involving children.

The answer is more complicated than it may seem.

Law enforcement agencies across Louisiana have significantly increased efforts to investigate crimes against children, identify suspects, and coordinate arrests with local, state, and federal partners.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has repeatedly emphasized that pursuing offenders accused of crimes against children remains one of her office's highest priorities. Those efforts have included expanding investigations, increasing cooperation among agencies, and working to ensure suspects remain in custody when appropriate under the law.

Local agencies, including departments throughout Acadiana, have also worked alongside state and federal investigators on cases involving crimes against children.

That increased enforcement can create the perception that these cases are becoming more common, even though experts often note that improved investigations, reporting, and public awareness also contribute to more arrests becoming visible to the public.
