The wait is over—Buc-ee’s is officially on its way to Lafayette, Louisiana! The popular Texas-based travel center chain has finalized its plans and closed a deal to acquire 42 acres of land along Louisiana Avenue near Interstate 10. This highly anticipated development will bring a state-of-the-art 74,000-square-foot facility to Acadiana, with construction expected to begin in early 2025 and a target opening by the second quarter of 2026.

This $82 million investment will create a major economic boost for Lafayette, generating at least 150 jobs with a starting wage of $17 per hour, one of the highest in the industry. According to the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), the project will support 288 direct and indirect jobs, leading to an estimated $193 million in personal income over 20 years.

LEDA President and CEO Mandi D. Mitchell expressed excitement about the project, stating, "The $82 million investment reflects the confidence Buc-ee’s has in our region. This new store will bring new investment and valuable jobs to North Lafayette, and it will attract even more new visitors to our community."

The Lafayette location will feature approximately 120 gas pumps and offer the unique snacks and clean restrooms that have made Buc-ee’s a favorite among travelers. It will be one of the largest Buc-ee’s locations in the Gulf South, surpassing others in size, including the popular stops in Baytown, TX, and Foley, AL.

Buc-ee’s founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin III shared his enthusiasm, saying, "We are beyond excited to close and begin construction of Buc-ee’s in Lafayette. Now the fun begins: groundbreaking, construction, and then opening Buc-ee’s Lafayette. Laissez les bon temps rouler!"

The travel center will also generate significant tax revenue for Lafayette Parish. A 2% sales tax increment approved by the Lafayette City Council will help offset public infrastructure costs.

With Lafayette as its first location in southern Louisiana, Buc-ee’s aims to strengthen its reputation as a must-visit stop for travelers along I-10. Mayor-President Monique Boulet added, "Buc-ee’s will bring hundreds of jobs to the area and position Lafayette as a key destination for travelers. I look forward to welcoming Buc-ee’s to Acadiana."

Lafayette—the countdown to Buc-ee’s is officially on!
