A weekend shooting outside a popular Lafayette business, KOK Wings and Things, has led to the arrest of a St. Martinville man in connection with a double homicide that left two people dead and two others critically injured.

The Lafayette Police Department confirmed that Dylon Doucet, 26, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon. Doucet faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, though bond information has not been made public.

The shooting occurred Saturday around 7:30 p.m. near the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, shortly after homecoming festivities wrapped up. Police say the violence erupted outside KOK Wings and Things on University Avenue, just across the street from a UL dorm. According to KADN, witnesses reported an argument involving Doucet and one of the victims, Corey Mouton, 26, of Carencro, which escalated into a fatal altercation.

Authorities believe Mouton was the intended target, but the tragic incident claimed another life as well. Jamir Carmouche, 24, of Lafayette, along with two others who were critically injured, appear to have been caught in the crossfire.

"It was a big argument with a girl and some men, and after that, all we heard were multiple gunshots," witness Chastity Washington told KADN. "After that, you seen videos of people online talking about how they were ducking and dodging bullets."

Lafayette police continue to investigate and have encouraged anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
