Local Zydeco icon Keith Frank has filed a lawsuit against the St. Landry Parish government that claims the city backed out of a contract in which he paid to lease the Yambilee building for several performance dates.

Reportedly in September of last year, Frank paid deposits to St. Landry Parish government to lease the building for several performance dates. Frank is saying these lease dates will not be honored.

Nine months later, Frank learned that the parish would not honor the contract because the building would need to be made available as a backup site for other local events in the case of inclement weather, the lawsuit states.

As a result, Keith Frank's annual Creole Renaissance Festival has been moved to the Rayne Civic Center Pavilion.

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot says as of now, he has not been served with the lawsuit.
