Icy roads have been a concern for anyone who absolutely had to drive today.

Concerns over water already on roadways freezing again overnight means that Republic Services will have to delay garbage collection by another day.

Lafayette Consolidated Government Chief Communications Officer Jamie Angelle, says via press release, that garbage trucks will not be running their usual routes for tomorrow.

If you are a Monday garbage customer, your garbage and recycling were not picked up today, and your next garbage collections will be next Monday, February 22.

Angelle says because of restrictions of the Department of Transportation, sanitation workers are not allowed to work more than six days in a row.

So what happens to collection for all other customers? If your normal garbage day is Tuesday through Friday then Angelle says it will be delayed by one day.

For this week only:

  • Tuesday customers will get their garbage picked up this Wednesday.
  • Wednesday customers will get their garbage picked up this Thursday.
  • Thursday customers will get their garbage picked up this Friday.
  • Friday customers will get their garbage picked up this Saturday.
