Lafayette Hostage Situation Clear; Suspect In Custody

A standoff at an apartment complex on West Congress Street is over after police took the suspect into custody.

It happened before 7 a.m. at a complex near Winchester Drive.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, that situation is no longer in progress. Sources tell KPEL that the standoff began as a domestic dispute. Police are still investigating to find out more details.

Traffic in the area was held up by that situation. At last check, traffic there is now clear.
