The latest round of budget cuts by Lafayette Consolidated Government includes the closure of four recreation centers on the northside of Lafayette. After the announcement on Friday, some asked why all of the closed centers served the same general area. This morning on Lafayette Live!, Mayor-President Josh Guillory said it has to do with proximity and the concentration of centers in that area. He also vows to find a way to reopen them with partnerships or naming rights. The closures are due to take effect on November 1st when the next fiscal year begins.

You can listen to Mayor-President Guillory's comments from Acadiana's Morning News on Thursday, July 23rd.
