What started out as a promising new live music venue in Lafayette won't even make it to its one-year anniversary.

In a social media post earlier today, the operators of SHOBOX Live Music & Social Venue announced that they are permanently closing.

Sadly, the venue is closing less than a year after opening.

Back in November 2022, Shobox held its launch party with blues guitar legend Gregg Wright gracing the stage.

As you can see on the flyer above, the event served as a fundraiser with proceeds benefitting Acadiana First Responders.

This was something that Shobox had become known for, especially on Sundays -- holding benefits and fundraisers for local non-profit organizations and groups.

And it appears that the folks who did frequent the venue had grown very fond of it and enjoyed their experience. Musicians and patrons alike had nice things to say on social media in bidding farewell to Shobox.

We will keep tabs on this space and see if anyone tries to re-open it as a live music venue because it really is a nice club.
