Lafayette, Louisiana Travel Alert: One Bridge Closing While New Section of Road Opens

It's always good to keep up with road construction updates during the busy holiday travel season.

There are two updates that you should be aware of if you're driving the roads of Lafayette Parish this week.

BRIDGE CLOSURE

The Tolson Road Bridge in Lafayette will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 20 through Friday, December 29 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily (with the exception of the weekend and Christmas Day) for crews to repair the bridge and guardrail, due to a recent vehicle accident.

Detour routes will be available via Failla Road.

NEW ROAD EXTENSION OPENING

Phase II and III of the Apollo Road Extension in Scott will be opened to traffic beginning at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

This new section of Apollo Road extends the new road from the terminus of Phase I southward to the Dulles Drive/Rue Du Belier intersection and includes a roundabout at that location.

Apollo Road Phase II and III is a 4-lane boulevard with street lighting and sidewalks.

This project, along with major drainage improvements in the vicinity, has sparked major residential and commercial developments that are now beginning with the Apollo Road Corridor.
