Lafayette Parish School Board Votes to Remove Mask Mandate on Campuses “Effective Immediately”
The Lafayette Parish School Board voted to remove the mask mandate on all school campuses "effective immediately."
According to a press release from Lafayette Parish School Systems spokesperson Allison Dickerson, LPSB met this evening and cast their votes to pull back the mask mandate on all Lafayette Parish School campuses. One important note is that while the mask mandate has been lifted on school campuses, masks are still mandated on school buses for the time being.
Governor John Bel Edwards' most recent proclamation continued to ease COVID-19 restrictions statewide, leaving all decisions regarding mask requirements at the discretion of each Local Education Agency.
Any changes to this mandate and/or any other restrictions related to COVID-19 will be updated as LPSS and the LPSB continues to navigate the pandemic with guidance from CDC and other local government agencies.
