About 10 pm last night listeners reported a substantial police presence at a gas station on the Evangeline Thruway. That gas station was the same station where an officer-involved shooting took place that took the life of Trayford Pellerin.

In this case, it is not believed that the shooting took place at that location. Nor is it believed that the shooting involved Lafayette Police. What we do know, based on information reported by KLFY TV 10, is that a victim was transported from that location to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

According to reports, police believe the victim was shot in the head in the 700 block of Priscilla Lane. Officers have surmised that the victim ran from the scene of the shooting to the gas station to seek help. Emergency medical help was summoned and the victim was picked up and transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

At this time the condition of the victim is unknown. Lafayette Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and are asking for public input to aid that investigation. If you have any information that might help officers solve this case you're encouraged to call Lafayette Police at (337) 291-8600. You may also dial 911 with any tips or information.
