As part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), $10.5 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation is going to the Lafayette Regional Airport.

This grant will be used to finance taxiway improvements.

U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins announced the news, expressing his excitement for "one of the fastest growing airports in Louisiana."

“This is a hard-fought investment in South Louisiana’s infrastructure. With a new terminal under construction and airfield improvements on the way, Lafayette Regional is one of the fastest growing airports in Louisiana. These enhancements will generate new commercial activity, greater travel and tourism, and more economic growth in Acadiana.”

LRA is one of only two Louisiana airports that will receive AIP supplemental funding this year.
