Lafayette Weather – Wet Week Ahead
The rain moved in Friday and it doesn't look like it will be until next Friday when we finally see dry conditions across the area. A cold front that arrived on Friday night did just as expected and stalled out very near Acadiana. That frontal boundary, coupled with an abundance of Gulf moisture will keep rain in the forecast for most the next work week.
Rainfall totals over the next few days could be in the three to five inch range. There could be heavier downpours in certain areas. There is a potential for flooding since much of the area has already been saturated with rainfall over the past few days.
The official forecast according to Daniel Phillips in the Storm Team 3 Weatherlab shows an 80% chance of more rain today. Rain will continue overnight. Tomorrow rain chances are still relatively high at 70%. Look for a better than 50/50 chance of showers to be in the forecast all the way through the end of the week. The hope is by next weekend skies will clear and the rain will move out. Until then, keep your umbrella handy.
