Louisiana native, and season 17 winner of "American Idol" Laine Hardy will be able to add something else to his bucket list this upcoming weekend. The pride of Livingston, LA will sing the National Anthem at the NASCAR Cup Series Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, August 9. The race will be televised nationally on NBCSN, and will start at 3:30 CST.  Hardy says he is excited about singing prior to the race, even if it will only be virtually this time.

Michigan International Speedway President Rick Brenner said in a press release "We are excited to have Laine Hardy perform the National Anthem as part of our historic Cup Series doubleheader weekend. Laine’s distinct sound is sure to resonate both with our fans and music enthusiasts.”

Hardy's virtual 2020 “Ground I Grew Up On” tour has already accumulated over Two million views, and he made a triumphant return to the 'American Idol" show in May with his rendition of Rascal Flatts' "Life is a Highway", which you can see in the video below. His current single, which came out on July 10, is about life growing up in his home state of Louisiana and is called "Tiny Town'. His tour schedule lists a date at the Texas Club in Baton Rouge on August 29, but if you plan on going be sure to call the venue first to make sure they are actually open.
