LHSAA Boys Basketball Playoff Brackets Released
The LHSAA released the boys state playoff brackets on Monday, with 30 teams representing the Acadiana area in the seven different classifications.
In Class 5A, three teams from the Acadiana are in the 32-team bracket, which features Natchitoches Central as the top-seed.
7th-seeded Comeaux will host 26th-seeded Helen Cox, and 15th-seeded New Iberia hosts 18th-seeded Catholic-Baton Rouge, while #29-seeded Acadiana will travel to #4th-seeded St. Paul's.
The Acadiana area is well-represented in the Class 4A bracket, with ten schools, including the top-seeded St. Thomas More Cougars, who will host the 32nd-seeded Rayne Wolves in opening round action.
In other first round match-ups, 6th-seeded Breaux Bridge will host 27th-seeded St. Michael, #8 Northside will host #25 DeRidder, #15 St. Martinville will host #18 Huntington, #16 Carencro hosts #17 Leesville, #23 Crowley visits #10 McDonogh 35, #24 Westgate is at #9 Plaquemine, #26 Opelousas visits #7 Tioga, and #28 Abbeville is at #5 Ellender.
In the Class 3A bracket, which features top-seeded Peabody, four teams from the Acadiana area are in the field.
8th-seeded Eunice will host 25th-seeded Iowa, while #18 Port Barre is on the road to take on #15 Brusly, #26 Northwest visits #7 De La Salle, and #30 Vermilion Catholic is at #3 St. Louis.
The Class 2A bracket features 5 teams from the Acadiana area, including 32nd-seeded Loreauville, who will be on the road to take on top-seeded Madison Prep in opening round play.
Also in 2A, #17 David Thibodaux is at #16 Newman, #25 Jeanerette is at #8 Many, #26 Mamou is at #7 Dunham, and #31 Catholic-New Iberia is at #2 Riverside Academy.
Moving on to the Class A bracket, where 5 teams will be representing the Acadiana area, including the top-seeded Lafayette Christian Academy Knights, who will be hosting the 32nd-seeded Vermilion Catholic Screamin' Eagles.
In other action in the bracket, #21 North Central will visit #12 Covenant Christian, while #28 Ascension Episcopal is at #5 Vernado, and #30 Hanson is at #3 Southern Lab.
In the Class B bracket, where Simsboro is the top-seed, 5th-seeded Midland will host 28th-seeded Mount Hermon, while 16th-seeded Episcopal of Acadiana hosts 17th-seeded Doyline.
Finally, in the Class C bracket, where Elizabeth is the top-seed, Northsid Christian, the 20th-seed, will be on the road to meet 13th-seeded Claiborne Christian.
