Lottery Confirms Louisiana Ticket is $110,000 Winner

This weekend was a lucrative winning weekend for Louisiana's lottery players. There were drawings in the two multi-state lottery games, namely Powerball and Mega Millions. And, there were drawings in two Louisiana-only games, Lotto and Easy 5.

And because Lady Luck loves Louisiana we can report to you this morning that we did have a big money winner out of all of those drawings. The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that a ticket sold for this weekend's drawings is worth $110,000 this morning.

Louisiana's Lottery Weekend Recap

Last Friday, the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game held its drawing. The top prize at the time was an estimated $140 million. Based on information from the Louisiana Lottery the largest prize won by a Louisiana ticket in the January 5th drawing was $1,500. Three tickets sold in the state earned that amount, there were also another three tickets that earned $500. When they draw for Mega Millions again on Tuesday night the estimated top prize will be $165 million for the annuitized jackpot or $79.9 million for the one lump sum.

Saturday, January 6th brought the Powerball drawing. The jackpot for Saturday's game was an estimated $37.7 million and Louisiana Powerball players did not have a lucrative Saturday at all. The largest prize won by a Louisiana ticket was $200. Only eight tickets sold in the state earned that. There were also eight $100 winners in Saturday's Powerball drawing. The next Powerball drawing is tonight, Monday, January 8th at 10 pm. The top prize for Powerball is $46 million for the estimated annuity and $22.8 million if you opt for the lump sum payment.

The Lotto Game from the Louisiana Lottery continues to grow its jackpot. The top prize in the Lotto game is now listed at 2.075 million dollars. Lotto, the flagship game of the Louisiana Lottery, requires ticket purchasers to select six numbers between 1 and 42. If you match all six you win the jackpot. The deadline for ticket purchases is 9:30 pm on drawing nights. The next drawing will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Easy 5 is the Louisiana Lottery's "quiet game". We call it that because you don't hear that much about it until there is a big winner. Well, there was a big winner in Saturday's Easy 5 game. A ticket sold in Many Louisiana matched all five of the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize of $110,000. The jackpot will now reset for Wednesday's drawing. The game's jackpot will be restarted at $50,000.
