Louisiana Couple Faces 83 Charges of Bestiality After Disturbing Investigation
THIBODAUX, La. - A Louisiana couple is facing a staggering number of criminal charges after an investigation by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office uncovered allegations involving multiple animals at a residence in Thibodaux.
Sheriff's Office Says Investigation Began Earlier This Year
Authorities say the husband and wife now face a combined total of 83 charges related to bestiality and animal cruelty following a months-long investigation.
According to investigators, the case began in February when detectives received information regarding possible criminal activity involving animals at a home in Thibodaux, Louisiana in Lafourche Parish.
As detectives gathered evidence, they reportedly identified numerous incidents that led to the extensive list of charges now filed against the couple.
It was during an investigation of a separate cruelty to a juvenile charge that the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office uncovered shocking evidence of animal bestiality.

Babin was arrested on May 16 on a second-degree cruelty to a juvenile charge, but was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond.
While investigating the incident, detectives searched the couple's home. The sheriff's office said investigators found videos of sexual acts involving a dog on a device owned by Babin and Mire.

Couple Facing More Than 80 Criminal Charges
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says Hailey Mire, 24, and Phillip Babin, 28, now face dozens of felony counts tied to allegations of sexual abuse involving animals.
Investigators reported that the charges stem from multiple incidents involving several animals over a period of time.
Authorities arrested both individuals and booked them into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on June 17, 2026. Bond information and court appearances are expected to be handled through the judicial process in the coming weeks.
Officials have not released extensive details about the condition of the animals involved, but investigators say the welfare of the animals remains an important part of the ongoing case.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain accusations until proven in court.
Rare Case Draws Attention Across Louisiana
The sheer number of charges filed in this case has generated significant attention across Louisiana and on social media.
While cases involving animal cruelty are unfortunately investigated every year, law enforcement officials say investigations involving such a large number of alleged offenses are uncommon.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says the investigation remains active, and additional information could be released as court proceedings continue.
