The Louisiana Department of Wildlife has announced that some of the Atchafalaya Delta's most prime and pristine hunting sites within the Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area will be available for hunters who are looking for mooring sites for their houseboats. The houseboat mooring lottery is underway now and the deadline to submit an application for a mooring site is July 23rd.

LDWF is offering some 69 houseboat mooring sites throughout the Atchafalaya Delta WMA. The permits for those applicants that are approved will be valid from September 1, 2024, through March 16, 2025. In order to apply you must be 18 years of age or older. One application per person per vessel is accepted.
