Louisiana fashionistas who want to look good while they are working out or just out and about are very familiar with the brand Lululemon. The brand's athletic, leisure, and activewear is among the most popular in cities such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport. The reason? The styles are nice. The colors are hot. And the fit is very comfortable.

There are over 270 retail outlets in the United States that offer Lululemon clothing and accessories. Of those 270 stores, five of them are in Louisiana. Lululemon operates retail outlets in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and two in the greater New Orleans metro. The brand's earnings are now in the tens of millions every year and the sky appears to be the limit.

Lululemon Leggings Are the Choice of Louisiana's Weekend Athletes

Chances are if you participate in a 5K run or a yoga class anytime in the next five days you'll encounter more than a few Louisiana ladies sporting Lululemon leggings. The brand offers several styles for different activities and those who wear them swear by them. The leggings offer comfort, strength, and durability. And, they continue to look good after multiple uses.

You'll probably notice quite a few ladies attending Lafayette's Festival International or Jazz Fest in New Orleans this weekend enjoying the day in their Allign Leggings from Lululemon. The brand's core audience is female shoppers between the ages of 20 and 40 who perceive themselves as living an active lifestyle.

What is the Untold Health Concern Regarding Lululemon Products?

Chances are if you are an active individual who wears Lululemon at some point you're going to injure yourself. Let's hope it won't be serious but if it is serious enough that your doctor orders an MRI you're going to want to leave the "Lulus" at home.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The device uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of what's going on inside the body. The operative word here is "magnetic" with a nod to "radio waves".

Just for demonstration purposes, you know what happens when you put metal objects in a microwave oven, right? Yes, there are sparks. Those sparks are caused by the "radio waves" of the microwave interacting with the metal. The metal gets really hot, really fast. The same thing would happen if you put a fork in an MRI.

I recently took a family member in for an MRI Scan and one of the first questions the technician asked was " Are you wearing Lululemon leggings". That's when I was first made aware of the serious risk of burns that could come from wearing those particular leggings during an MRI. There have been reports of some patients receiving 2nd degree burns in a similar scenario.

Many Brands of Athleisure Wear Contain Metal Strands

One of the reasons Lululemon clothing lasts so long and is so durable is that metal threads are woven into the fabric. The strands not only make the garment stronger but they aid in odor elimination when the wearer starts to sweat. They will also burn your bottom if you wear those leggings for an MRI scan.

This "warning" doesn't just apply to Lululemon merchandise. Any clothing that has the words "anti-microbial" or "anti-bacterial" on the label should be avoided when going in for an MRI. It's really hard to see with the naked eye so you'll need to read the label to be sure.
