Louisiana Gas Station Manager Arrested for Felony Theft, Allegedly Stole $4,000 from Cigarette Refunds
It sure seems that criminals have new, wacky ways to steal a buck or two these days.
This story out of Monroe, Louisiana sure fits into the "well, I've never heard of that one" department.
On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Monroe Police were dispatched to a gas station in the 1100 block of Lamy Lane. Upon arrival, they met 34-year-old Santana J. Cobbs, who was the manager of the gas station.
Yeah, she's probably the former manager of that gas station.
Apparently, Ms. Cobbs had been making fraudulent refunds of cigarettes and keeping the money. She wrote in a statement to loss prevention that it was more than $150 at a time and the total amount she took came out to approximately $4,000.
Cobbs was quickly placed under arrest and transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center where she was charged with Felony Theft.
We can only imagine that there could possibly be more arrests in this matter as it's hard to work this scheme alone.
