There are some of us that consider it an honor to be able to vote. We consider it an honor to wear that "I Voted" sticker after our time in the ballot box. Do you happen to recall what the "I Voted" sticker from the 2019 elections looked like? Well, the artwork and ideas conveyed in that sticker have earned a very special honor for our state.

The sticker that was created by Lafayette artist Tony Bernard was recently honored by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. The committee singled out the sticker that features an iconic Louisiana Pelican centered in the State's Seal as one of the most creative and original designs.

The Louisiana sticker was one of five such stickers that were honored by the U.S. Election Assitance Committee. You might recall Louisiana received a lot of attention a few years back with an "I Voted" sticker that featured the artwork of the late George Rodrigue and his iconic Blue Dog.  That sticker was handed out to voters in the 2016 Presidential elections.

Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin has suggested that the success of the stickers created by Louisiana artists just might inspire a collectors series. He told reporters that his office is certainly considering the possibility of making that a reality.
