Well, it seems the cost of auto insurance could actually be worse for us because Louisiana isn't even the most expensive state...but we're pretty darn close.
According to the latest ranking from Insure.com, Louisiana is the second most expensive state for auto insurance. The average cost for car insurance in Louisiana annually is $1,921.
What makes car insurance so expensive in Louisiana? According insure.com, we have a higher than average number of uninsured drivers, and a pretty high rate of auto accidents that end up in court. That leads to big payouts by insurance companies, and that makes for higher than average insurance premiums for us.
Michigan takes the number one spot with considerably higher car insurance rates.
