It was an eventful Saturday night across Louisiana last night. There were some major football contests that were decided in Baton Rouge and Lafayette. A large portion of the state was in a "battle" with Mother Nature because of flooding rains. And, then there was the Saturday night tradition of Powerball in Louisiana from the Louisiana Lottery.

Louisiana has been a participant in the multi-state lottery game Powerball since March 5th, 1995. We've been playing the other multi-state lottery game Mega Millions since November 16, 2011. That probably explains why the state's players have more big wins in Powerball than they do in Mega Millions.

Louisiana players have claimed 17 Powerball jackpots in the past almost 30 years. Meanwhile, no player in our state has ever claimed the top prize in a Mega Millions drawing. That could change on Tuesday when Mega Millions draws for an estimated annuitized jackpot of $361 million.

What Was Saturday's Powerball Jackpot?

When the Powerballs dropped last night around 10 the estimated top prize was $92.1 million. That's the prize for a winner that wanted the annuity. For the lump sum payout, Powerball was offering an estimated prize of $43.5 million.

Our sources at Powerball have revealed that no tickets sold for Saturday's game resulted in a jackpot win. There was a Match 5 Million winner sold in New Jersey. The second largest prize in last night's game was a $100,000 winner. That ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. The ticket's purchaser also opted for the Power Play.

Louisiana Powerball Ticket Wins $100,000

That's right last night's big money winner was sold in Louisiana. So, let's check your numbers.

Based on what we saw the winning numbers for Powerball on November 9, 2024, were:

11   24   50   56   66   Powerball 16  Power Play "x2"

Use those numbers as a reference but before you attempt to collect a prize make sure you have verified your ticket at the Official Louisiana Lottery Website or the Official Powerball Website. Those sites can not only confirm your win but also offer detailed information on prize redemption.

Let me just say, that if the building above looks familiar to you and you purchased a Powerball ticket for Saturday, November 9, 2024, you really do need to find that ticket and check the numbers.

That building pictured above is Coteau Too. It's a convenience store on Coteau Road in New Iberia, Louisiana. They sold the $100,000 winner in Saturday's Powerball. Congratulations to them, they'll get a nice stipend from the Louisiana Lottery, and congratulations to the holder of that big-money winner.

There were no jackpot winners in Louisiana's other Saturday night draw games. So the jackpots for Lotto and Easy 5 will be growing as will the jackpot for Powerball. Lotto and Easy 5 won't draw until Wednesday night. Powerball will hold a drawing on Monday. The top prize in the game is estimated to be $103 million when the ping pong balls drop at 10 on Monday night.
