Louisiana Lottery Exploring Online Ticket Sales
One of the reasons I don't buy nearly as many lottery tickets as might actually buy would have to be because I am lazy. I don't want to have to actually get into my car and physically go to a Louisiana Lottery retailer just to play the games. Yup, that's a sign of the times in which we live.
Since we can now get just about any and every service, even medical care online these days, why should purchasing lottery tickets be any different?
That's why officials with the Louisiana Lottery are opening exploratory talks about making some of the Lottery's favorite games available for purchase online. It's not unheard of in the lottery business. Right now 11 states offer online sales of lottery games.
Lottery officials speculate that online sales could be conducted through the Lottery's App. That's how most of the other states do it. However, before online sales for lottery tickets could begin in Louisiana, we're going to have to get the legislature to revisit some laws.
The laws in question have to do with online computer gambling. It's many of those same laws that prevent Louisiana residents from playing online with those nationwide fantasy football sites. So, don't expect to be able to power up the computer in time for the Powerball drawing on Wednesday. If you want to win that $343 million jackpot, you're going to have to buy your ticket in person.
