(KMDL-FM) If you did not hear Monday's big lottery news, it was this. There was a jackpot winner in the multi-state lottery game Powerball. A single ticket matched all the numbers needed to claim the game's more than $250 million prize. The Louisiana Lottery not only confirmed that win, but also another big win for a Powerball player in the state.

While we did get preliminary information on where the $250 million Powerball winner was sold, we didn't have verified information about the other big win. That win in Louisiana is worth $100,000 to the lucky ticket holder, and now we know where the ticket was purchased.

Urgent Action Needed: $50,000 Louisiana Powerball Ticket Expires Thursday

But before we get to the "new money" winners in the Powerball game, there is a bit of urgency we need to convey to a previous Powerball winner in Louisiana. If you played Powerball on September 6th of last year. That would have been the weekend following the Labor Day holiday. And you purchased a ticket at the Hoppin Harley Food Mart in Tickfaw, Louisiana, you're about to miss out on $50,000.

A ticket sold for the September 6th drawing that matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball will expire on Thursday, March 5, 2026. There is also a bit of urgency we need to convey regarding a $223,475 winning ticket that was sold for the Easy 5 drawing on September 27th of last year.

That ticket will expire in three weeks on March 26, 2026. That big money winner was purchased at Stop 2 Shop in Slidell. That brings us up to speed on the tickets that are about to expire. Now, on to Monday's big winner.

Who Won the $250 Million Powerball Jackpot on Monday?

If you weren't aware, the jackpot prize of $250.8 million in Monday's Powerball game was won by a ticket sold in Arkansas. That state's lottery also hosted another big Powerball win less than three months ago when a ticket sold for Powerball on Christmas Eve matched all the numbers needed to claim a jackpot prize of more than one billion dollars.

Meanwhile, in the Powerball drawing that was held on Monday, March 2, 2026, the Louisiana confirmed a ticket sold in the state matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. By rule, that ticket would earn a prize of $50,000. However, the ticket's purchaser opted for the Power Play option in the game.

The Power Play multiplier in Monday's drawing was "x2," so the prize amount was doubled to $100,000. The Louisiana Lottery tells us the winning ticket was sold at the Walmart Store on Highway 3235 in Galliano, Louisiana. If you're holding that ticket, you'll want to sign the back of it for security reasons. Then you'll want to contact the Louisiana Lottery to arrange for payment on your prize.

Tonight, Wednesday, Powerball starts a new jackpot at $20 million. The Louisiana Lottery's Lotto game and the Easy 5 game will hold drawings, too. The Lotto jackpot prize is an estimated $825,000, while the Easy 5 game has a top prize of $220,000. I would not be surprised if one or both of those games had a winner in tonight's drawing.
