Those who need to early vote in the presidential primary in Louisiana can do so starting on Saturday, February 20. Early voting will end on February 27.

Louisiana's presidential primary is set for March 5.

This voting, however, isn't open to everyone. Only voters registered in a specific political party may participate. That means that only registered Republicans can vote for the Republican candidates and likewise for those registered Democrat.

Keep in mind when you view the ballot, you will see several names that have suspended their campaigns.

All total, there are 14 Republican candidates still on the Louisiana ballot and 10 Democratic candidates.

The presidential preference primary is the only race in Louisiana where party affiliation matters.
