
Daring Rescue in Catahoula Parish After Truck Plunges Into Freezing River
CATAHOULA PARISH, La. (KMDL-FM) - A dramatic and dangerous scene unfolded and was caught on video as a driver was rescued after his truck wound up in the frigid waters of Little River near Archie Park at Texaco Towne in Catahoula Parish.
Louisiana Man Rescued From Truck
A tragic and potentially deadly scene was caught on video Sunday, January 25 in Catahoula Parish as four men rushed to rescue a Louisiana driver who's truck was sinking into the freezing waters of Little River.
Authorities say the pickup truck drove into Little River near Archie Park at Texaco Towne, trapping the driver inside the submerged vehicle. The extreme cold made conditions especially dangerous for anyone stranded in the water.
Four brave individuals responded to the emergency and were able to rescue the driver before it was too late. Deputy Mike Carithers of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, Officer Cory Hall of the Jonesville Police Department, as well as good Samaritans Stanley Gardner and Jason Cross are credited with saving the driver's life.

According to the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck had entered the river, trapping its driver inside. The responders forced their way into the vehicle and successfully removed the trapped occupant, who was then transported to LaSalle General Hospital, where they received treatment for hypothermia.

Unable to open the doors from outside, the men quickly broke into the sinking vehicle to free the trapped driver.
Sheriff Toney Edwards publicly acknowledged the men for their bravery and also thanked the Sandy Lake Fire Department and Jonesville Fire Department for their swift response to the incident.
