(KMDL-FM) Louisiana your morning cup of coffee just changed. Okay, if you get your morning cup of coffee from any of the 106 locations of Starbucks scattered across the state. The iconic coffee chain has migrated from the Pacific Northwest over the past few decades to Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Alexandria, and countless other communities up and down the bayou.

Whether you care for Starbucks as your "cup of choice" or not, you can't deny that the coffee chain made coffee cool for an entire generation of coffee drinkers. There was a time when all coffee was bad coffee. At least now, even in fast food restaurants, you can count on the coffee being raised to a higher level.

And raising your coffee house experience to the next level is something that Starbucks is hoping to achieve by making a subtle change in what you see when you come in for your morning pick me up, midday pick me up, evening pick me up, or when ever you need a jolt of caffeine or just want to taste the Pepto Bismal inspired Pink Drink.

The short answer is that they changed the dress code for baristas. According to a press release from Starbucks, the change was made to:

deliver a more consistent coffeehouse experience that will also bring simpler and clearer guidance to our partners, which means they can focus on what matters most, crafting great beverages and fostering connections with customers

You probably have the same question I had when I read that, "What in the hell does that mean"? And based on what I have read on the subject, I still really don't know. But what I do know is this.

Baristas must now wear a solid black top. They can wear khaki, black, or blue denim bottoms. The company will also provide your coffee creators with custom company-branded shirts. Before the dress code, baristas could wear any color top, and in addition to the color choices for bottoms we've already mentioned, they could also wear grey or brown pants.

Why Did Starbucks Make a Major Policy Change This Week?

Mmm, my coffee is tasting better already. I am going on the assumption that Starbucks has figured something out about the color schemes and the way baristas look that somehow makes it easier to drink a $14 cup of coffee.
