Louisiana Tech Tames Cajuns, 11-3

Tanner Huddleston and Seth White each had three hits to lead a 13 hit attack and Louisiana Tech broke the game open late in taking an 11-3 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Tuesday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Hunter Wells and Parker Bates each drove in three runs for the Bulldogs (22-10), who won their eighth straight game.

The Bulldogs also took advantage of free baserunners in their big innings as the Cajuns walked four batters and hit six.

Tech got on the board off starter Logan Savoy (1-1) in the first inning on a home run by Mason Mallard, but the Cajuns (17-18) came right back in the bottom of the inning on a two run homer by Handsome Monica, scoring Hunter Kasuls and giving the Cajuns a 2-1 lead.  It was Monica's Sun Belt leading ninth homer of the season.

The Bulldogs got the run right back on Manny Garcia's RBI single in the second, then broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring four runs on three hits, two walks and a hit batsman.

The Cajuns answered with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Brennan Breaux and had a chance in the sixth when Kole McKinnon and Breaux singled with two outs.  But reliever Jonathan Fincher came on to strike out pinch hitter Daniel Lahare to end the threat.

Tech added five runs on the final two innings to distance themselves and get the lopsided win.

Kyle Griffen (6-2), the second of four pitchers for Louisiana Tech, was credited with the win.  He allowed one run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.

Savoy was charged with his first loss of the season, allowing six hits and five runs, all earned.  He walked one and hit two batters and struck out two.

The Cajuns are back in action tomorrow night against McNeese State at 6:30 at Russo Park.
