Louisiana's unemployment rate has taken a slight turn in the wrong direction according to the Louisiana department of labor.

Information released today shows that Initial claims have increased to 2,459 from the previous week's total of 2,398. To get a better perspective, last year's claims during the same week were 1,814.

KATC reports "Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending Jan. 2 increased to 24,659 compared to 22,682 the previous week."
