The State of Louisiana is ready to start playing "Let's Make a Deal" when it comes to coronavirus vaccinations in the state. It's all part of a plan to increase the number of vaccinations against the disease in the state. It's called Shot for a Shot and as the name implies, you can get a shot of your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage when you show proof of your vaccination record.

The program is a joint effort between the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, the Louisiana Restaurant Associatio. Just to be clear, no public monies are being used to fund the program. The Louisiana Restaurant Association will handle the reimbursement process with member bars and restaurants after the promotion is over.

In order to obtain your "free shot" of the drinking variety, you will need to get your "free shot" of the coronavirus variety. Those shots are available at most of the larger pharmacies and drug stores in the state. In many cases, you can walk right in and get a shot. You might have to fill out some paperwork but the process itself is fairly quick.

Once you've been vaccinated you'll need to bring your vaccination card or proof of your vaccination through your LA Wallet App. Your vaccination will have had to occur between June 1st and June 30th to qualify for the program. And you have had to have gotten your vaccination within seven days.

The drink is your choice. It can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic and the ATC and the LRA say the program will run through the end of the month or until funding runs out. Organizers of a Shot for a Shot hope to increase vaccinations in Louisiana by at least 10,000 over the 30-day period that the promotion is being administered.

And if you're having trouble choosing a beverage, we'd like to offer these suggestions.
