LSU unveiled its new spread offense in a season-opening 55-3 win over Georgia Southern, and it did not disappoint.

LSU scored touchdowns on their first 5 possessions, and 6 of their 7 first-half possessions, leading GSU 42-3 after 2 quarters.

Senior quarterback Joe Burrow was as impressive as he was efficient, completing 23 of 27 passes for 278 yards.

The senior from Athens, Ohio, tied a single-game school record with 5 passing touchdowns, and only needed the first half to do it.

Today, Burrow was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

It's the third time in his career he's received the honor, doing twice last year as a junior, but in his first season with the Tigers.
