Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser is asking citizens to help out with recovery from Hurricane Laura. Whether you can donate your time, or money, or any other resources, he stresses that now is the time to step up to the plate.

Nungesser spoke to WAFB in Baton Rouge about Hurricane Laura, and said "If ever there was a time for us to be there for our neighbors and show the world we are Louisiana Strong, this is it. This response and recovery will be especially challenging due to the pandemic, so it will be critical for everyone to continue following all safety precautions and recommendations.”

Residents can check the Volunteer Louisiana website to find ways to help out with recovery efforts, which Nungesser says can definitely be done safely in the era of COVID-19. Opportunities will be updated throughout the day, and if you are a community organization, non profit, or faith based organization that needs volunteers, you can contact them at VolunteerLouisiana@crt.la.gov
