Man Shot at Randomly in Lafayette By Someone With Airgun
Lafayette Police are investigating an incident that happened on Tuesday where one person was reportedly shot at random.
The incident occurred on the Evangeline Thruway near Chalmette Drive. A man walking in the area received minor injuries after being shot in the back.
Lafayette Police spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Griffin said that after speaking with the victim, police learned the person or persons that allegedly fired a shot was driving a black vehicle that was adorned with Confederate flags.
Griffin said the victim also told police that both the driver and passengers screamed "white power" before they fled the scene.
Police are looking at video surveillance from the area at the time of the reported incident.
As a precaution, Griffin is asking citizens to always be aware of their surroundings and report any such occurrence to the police.
