An unfathomable shooting happened in Crowley on Saturday as a young man was shot in the chest and arm while attending a double funeral.

Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard says multiple shots were fired at First Baptist Church while a funeral procession was leaving the church.

The funeral was for a recent murder victim, 26-year-old Brydon Gray, along with Gray's mother, who passed away two days after her son died.

Gray was gunned down at his home in Crowley on October 28. His mother would die two days later as a result of heart problems.

The shooting on Saturday happened just after 11 am.  Broussard said the victim was exiting the church when the shots rang out.

It appeared the shots came from behind a bush. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Multiple vehicles were sprayed with bullets according to Broussard, including the vehicle of the pastor who delivered the homily.

There were about 200 people in attendance at the funeral.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
